As an athlete I spent 23 years in the sport of wrestling and four years as a Division 1 wrestling coach. College level wrestling is one of the most difficult times in a wrestler's career and the foundation for that level of intensity and technique is not built once you enter your freshman year it starts now!

Team Kolat does not just teach athletes technique; we teach them how to train themselves. We train now for youth, middle, and high school national championships, but we prepare them for the NCAA FINALS!

Our goal is to make everyone who enters our practice room a champion. We train to push each other the way they we will be pushed in the big matches. The practice room is small enough that your will receive individualized training and coaching that you need and the training that will bring out your very best wrestling.

Cary's philosophy is small group training with individual instruction to help bring wrestlers along at a competitive pace. The following styles are taught at Team Kolat:

Club Structure

Practice sessions are kept small enough to allow wrestlers a competitive partner mix and individual training. The following flow chart shows the life of a wrestler in the club:

Team Kolat High School

Train 2 - 3 days a week during pre-season along with strength training. During the season it may be tough for high school wrestlers to get to club so we meet on Sunday for train sessions primarily on the mat for technique and live wrestling. During the off season they train 2-3 days per week for freestyle, Greco, and strength training workouts. Group is capped at 40 wrestlers.

Team Kolat Elite 40

This group is given every opportunity to excel and prepare for high school. The group is capped at 40 wrestlers and trains year round on the mat, in the weight room, and is taught by special guest clinicians during the year. They have a full coaching staff along with a personal strength/conditioning coach for Elite 40 members and are trained in folkstyle, freestyle, and Greco.

Aug.-Sept.:    meet with strength coach 2 days a week
Oct.:              lifting 2 days per week, mat time 1 day per week
Nov.-Mar.:     lifting 2 days per week, mat time 4-5 days per week
Apr.-Jul.:        lifting 2 days per week, mat time 2-3 days per week

The primary age of this group is 8th grade and down. Kids are accepted into the program each year based on the number of 8th graders who move up to the high school division leaving openings at certain weights in the room. Slots are not given to the most skilled wrestlers but the most dedicated to training at their age level.

Team Kolat Competitor

Group is feeder program for Elite 40 group. We prefer beginners or wrestlers who still need a majority of work on the basics in this group. They meet 2-3 days per week for training on the mat only, and are prepared for a move into the Elite group when a spot becomes available. They are trained primarily on basic techniques and occasionally given the opportunity to train with the Elite group.

Sept.-April:    2-3 days per week
