Kolat In-Season & Summer Wrestling Camps (ALL CAMPS SPLIT BY WEIGHT CLASS)

Kolat in-season and summer wrestling camps cater to wrestlers of all ages and skill levels. Cary trains wrestlers who have just begun their wrestling careers all the way to Division 1 college wrestlers who seek his guidance on winning National Titles.

He maintains a strict camp policy, all camps are capped with a maximum of 40 wrestlers. This policy allows Cary and his staff to focus on each athlete, providing effective coaching and individualized instructing.

Kolat Camps build from the basic skills necessary to be successful in the sport, giving you the advantage over the average wrestler.  Once basic skill areas have been addressed, we will move into more advanced techniques such as throws, inside trips, russian 2 on 1, etc.

Kolat camps put a large emphasis on high speed drilling, chain drilling, situation specific conditioning drilling, and combative wrestling during camps.  We run intensive technique camps allowing wrestlers to build muscle memory and execute wrestling techniques without hesitation.

Typical Camp Day

Session 1:                             New Technique Introduced
Session 2:                             High repetition drilling within the same areas of new technique taught
Session 3:                             Live situational wrestling in new technique areas & matches

We analyze each athlete’s live wrestling and provide them with instruction after watching them in action. This camp provides new technique throughout camp, but offers one on one instruction to correct the mistakes observed during the live wrestling. Counselors are instructed to not only teach new techniques to campers, but address improper technique after live wrestling sessions and correct their mistakes.

We want each athlete who comes to camp to leave a better individual and wrestler, which is why all Kolat Camps are limited to 40 athletes per camp and split by weight class. Cary achieved his wrestling success by always keeping his training regime scheduled and constant. He takes the same approach toward his camps. Each wrestler will receive the opportunity to learn in small groups and interact one on one with instructors.

Camps fill quickly, so please get registered as soon as possible.

Freestyle Camps:

Freestyle camps follow the same format as our folk style camps but generally are split by age group.  Cary attempts to operate freestyle camps prior to freestyle events allowing wrestlers to prepare for competition.

How Do I Get The Most From Cary’s Camp?

All camps are split by weight class to ensure those attending have proper partners with many to choose from.  This allows the camp to run smoothly and wrestlers get a chance to train with all body shapes and styles.

Because we keep our camps at 40 and by weight it is recommended that you attend multiple camps.  This allows Cary and the staff to get to know you and continually progress your training.  The summer camps are taught with training agendas revolving around a series of techniques that Cary continually changes with each camp.

Example:  If you have attended the first camp of the year for your specific weight class, the next camp you attend with your weight class will introduce new techniques.

Each camp is taught with basics covered first and then the following:

Neutral Series
Top Series
Bottom Series

Each camp the series is changed.

(Note:  Campers who have attended camp prior are given priority for open slots in camp along with a discount for multiple attendances.  Please call 410.374.0789 or email kolatcamps@carykolat.com for discounted price.)

Invite Only Camps

Invite only camps range in size from 6 to 30 wrestlers per camp.  Campers who have showed steady improvement but most of all a true desire to improve and PUSH THEMSELVES are invited to these camps.  These camps do not always possess the most talented wrestlers (although most are highly accomplished) but the hardest working that will push everyone in the room that they train with.

Cary holds 6 to 8 of these camps annually and wrestlers are sent invitations via email if they have shown exceptional work ethic in the practice room or camps.

Where and When Are the Camps?

Cary’s main training facility is located north of Baltimore where most camps take place.

Team Kolat

Keeping the same successful formula as with his camps, Cary trains Team Kolat in the Baltimore area. He keeps the number of wrestlers in the room at the right quantity along with skill level to ensure that everyone is getting the best training possible. They train a large facility with two full size mats, wall padding, bleachers in the room, and a weight room.

Team Kolat members are trained year round in the following:

Folkstyle Wrestling
Freestyle Wrestling
Greco Wrestling

On top of meeting with Cary and his staff daily they also meet with a personal strength coach allowing Team members to have every advantage possible when competing.

With keeping the room small so everyone has personal attention, we are always seeking wrestlers who are interested in training with the club. Many wrestlers would like to train on a regular basis but due to distance can’t make the trip. If you’re interested and have some time off from school, summer break, or just a weekend trip and would like to train with us please contact us at:

We are always looking for competitive wrestlers wanting to get a partner mix and have host families of team members who will gladly put you up for a few days training session. Cary himself has athletes stay at his home allowing wrestlers to get excellent training and spend time with getting know him and his team personally.
