The Mark Of Champions
TEAM KOLAT: General Information

As an athlete I spent 23 years in the sport of wrestling and four years as a Division 1 wrestling coach. College level wrestling is one of the most difficult times in a wrestler's career and the foundation for that level of intensity and technique is not built once you enter your freshman year it starts now!

Team Kolat does not just teach athletes technique; we teach them how to train themselves. We train now for youth, middle, and high school national championships, but we prepare them for the NCAA FINALS!

Our goal is to make everyone who enters our practice room a champion. We train to push each other the way they we will be pushed in the big matches. The practice room is small enough that your will receive individualized training and coaching that you need and the training that will bring out your very best wrestling.

Cary's philosophy is small group training with individual instruction to help bring wrestlers along at a competitive pace. The following styles are taught at Team Kolat:

Club Structure

Practice sessions are kept small enough to allow wrestlers a competitive partner mix and individual training. The following flow chart shows the life of a wrestler in the club:

Some of the biggest wrestling events in the country take place in the summer in the style of freestyle. To think that when the folkstyle season comes you should shut down your freestyle training is an improper approach to wrestling in all styles. Training freestyle during the season will better prepare you for the coming summer and not adversely affect your folkstyle training or competition. Many techniques from freestyle will transfer right into folkstyle wrestling. The Kolat wrestling club will be offering year round freestyle training starting in November.

During the folkstyle season we will train Freestyle on Sunday only. The training will be at a slow pace centered on properly perfecting the primary techniques associated with freestyle wrestling.

Example Practice Session:

Warm-up
New Technique Introduction (ex: gut wrench) Counters of new technique introduced into training room High repetition of new technique allowing wrestler to fully understand the situation

Freestyle training during the folkstyle season will operate at a slow pace and be technique based not conditioning based.

Working on freestyle now will allow you to move directly from the folkstyle season into the freestyle season and allow you to be steps ahead of the competition. We will also be better prepared and organized for the upcoming freestyle events when everyone else is just getting started.

If you are interested in participating in the freestyle training program (all ages welcome) please email kolatcamps@carykolat.com and add Freestyle training to the subject heading.

Live Wrestling Only

We allow wrestlers from outside the program to come and train with us on our live wrestling nights. This is strictly live wrestling and you must email kolatcamps@carykolat.com to be added to our live partner list and we will update you on what night you can attend. Because of room space we will only allow 10 wrestlers from outside the program the chance to wrestle with us during these nights. You must show up with a valid USA Wrestling card or purchase one from us onsite for $25.00. The cost for live nights is $20.00 per workout with no contract obligations beyond that. DO NOT SHOW UP UNLESS YOU HAVE BEEN SENT AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. We will shut off live wrestling nights at 10 wrestlers from outside the club no more. Please check the Team Kolat Calendar for LIVE WRESTLING nights and send us an email if you would like to come to a session.

Team Kolat Competitor

Group is feeder program for Elite 40 group. We prefer beginners or wrestlers who still need a majority of work on the basics in this group. They are trained primarily on basic techniques and occasionally given the opportunity to train with the Elite group.
